World Heritage Volunteers Committee spotted again!

9th May was a glorious Sunday, we painted bollards and removed Graffiti again this time from The Royal Crescent! Outrageous!!!...what is this world coming to?! We as the World Heritage Volunteers Committee members are very passionate about the preservation of our beautiful historical buildings. Is SouthGate dangling golden carrots infront of businesses?

Our city centre is becoming a living gost town with every other shop closing..the interesting point is that they all seem to be moving to the SouthGate shopping centre...now could it be that SouthGate is giving a better deal to businesses than the council who owns more than 60% of the buildings in the city centre?! What are your thoughts on this?! Mandana

Mortgage Loans v First Time Buyers

I've come across many young families of recent who wish to live a noble life, climb the real estate ladder and build a little nest egg, however there is the the impossible task of coming up with minimum of 20% down in order to get a mortgage certainly ousting the majority of average earners! We bailed the banks, now how about the banks being a little more mindful of young families too...what are your thoughts? Mandana ::

Stamp Duty horror for millions!!!

Do you think the Stamp Duty holiday which ended in January 2010 will drastically effect the sale of one's property or the affordability for new or first time buyers??.... Mandana. :p

Action not words!

Sometimes we just need to look within and question ourselves, are we talkers or doers? This is an open letter to all concerned. If one really cares about one's community then one does something about it...take action, come up with solutions, support fellow fund raising events and/or join volunteer groups...Quit complaining about council's actions, come up with solutions and submit it!...No matter what the topic may be...if it concerns you and your community do something about it!..well, have a great coming week everyone...

Volunteer clean up

Mandana Sharifi has now taken part in all three of the volunteer days to clean up our city centre. These happen every month and the next one is tentatively scheduled for 15 November.

It is a great way to build community engagement and get locals involved in preserving our city. If you want to know more details please email Mandana at hq@mandanainternational.com

The events are organised by the City of Bath World Heritage Volunteer group and it is great to see the work they are doing.

Mandana says "I have really enjoyed these volunteer days and it is great to see the improvement that we are making to the city centre. On Sunday [11th Oct ] we painted 40 bollards at the junction of Milsom Street and Green Street until we got caught by the rain...no problem we'll continue beautifying our city at the next get together!."

Steps to Weir from Pulteney Bridge

Abbey activist Mandana Sharifi is concerned about the safety of the steps leading down to the weir from Pulteney Bridge. Several of the steps are very shiny and worn and in wet weather are very slippery.

Mandana believes this is an accident waiting to happen - especially on busy rugby match days. She has reported her concerns to the Council and asked them to look at the matter.
